Legal Counsel East Europe Full Time

About the employer:

Our Client is looking to appoint a Legal Counsel East Europe to work as part of the Group Legal Function.

Reporting to the Group General Counsel, the role will be based in Warsaw, Poland.

Responsibilities:

This role will have primary responsibility for the Eastern European business and will be part of the Easter Europe Senior Leadership Team with a dotted reporting line into the regional MD. Supporting and collaborating with the leadership of the East Europe businesses and manufacturing sites in Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania you will be the first and primary legal business partner on all key legal issues and strategic projects ranging from, but not limited to:

• Commercial contracting (primarily sale and supply agreements) and providing commercially focussed legal advice to various business and functional teams in the region on a wide range of commercial agreements;
• Pre- and post dispute claims work. Working with the wider legal team and external counsel to seek out and propose appropriate solutions and resolutions to disputes and managing litigation;
• Compliance advice and training, working with the wider legal team to advise and train internal client groups on Company guidelines, policies and procedures including competition law, data protection, anti-bribery and corruption;
• Providing general legal advice in respect of corporate and commercial law, real estate, labour and employment, intellectual property;
• Support and influence the strategic agenda of the Group and Group Legal on potential restructurings, acquisitions or divestitures; and
• Instruction and close management of external counsel.

Requirements:

The appointee will proactively identify issues and offer solutions. You will be expected to be accessible, motivational and credible to the East Europe Senior Leadership Team, others in the legal team, senior management and all colleagues. The appointee will also bring:

• Law degree and qualified in Poland with a minimum of 5 years of post-qualified experience;
• Strong grounding from the corporate or commercial team of a leading law firm;
• Existing in-house experience covering a broad range of legal issues including commercial contracts with strong drafting, negotiation and communication skills (both written and verbal);
• Strong organisation and prioritisation skills and the ability to ensure that all legal advice is provided proactively and within relevant deadlines;
• A consistently high level of legal analysis and attention to detail with sound commercial and ethical judgement;
• Business focus and a balanced approach to risks analysis in the context of the business;
• Ability to work independently as a self-starter with low levels of supervision, manage multiple matters with commercial awareness, and focus on providing practical solutions;
• A good attitude and inter-personal skills, coupled with a willingness to learn and an ability to interact effectively with business partners, colleagues, advisers and other parties, build strong relationships and influence key stakeholders;
• Ability to operate in a fast paced and dynamic environment and experience with working in an English speaking and multinational business environment.
